With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Ward 3 City Councilor Brenda Scroggins-Lenard. Brenda was elected to serve on the Wagoner City Council in April of 2023. Brenda was married to her husband, Johnny, for 49 years. She graduated from Wagoner High School in 1975 and lived in Wagoner her entire life. Brenda had two children: One son, Buster, and his wife, Alesha; a daughter, Summer; and her husband, Josh Tow. Brenda was also a grandmother to three: Noah, Rose, and Paisley. She was also a great-grandmother to Salem, and a beloved aunt and cousin to many. Brenda and her family's roots run deep in Wagoner, Oklahoma.

Brenda owned and operated a home daycare for eight years before she began a career at Wagoner Walmart, which lasted 37 years until she retired. Brenda was an active community member and volunteered to raise money for Relay for Life for three years. She also volunteered at Wagoner Community Outreach and a local restaurant. Brenda served as a committee member with Wagoner Economic Development and Parks and Recreation in addition to her service as a city councilor. Brenda was also the founder of the Chicken Coop in Wagoner, Oklahoma. She attended Lighthouse Full Gospel Church. Brenda loved Wagoner and wanted to help make our community a better place in any way she could. Brenda said, "Working together, we can make a better place for our children."

Services for Brenda are under the direction of Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory. Viewing will be Thursday, January 2nd, 2025, from 12–5 p.m., and her service will take place on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, at the Wagoner Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, located at 504 S State Street, at 2 p.m. City Hall and the Wagoner City Public Library will be closed from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 3rd, 2025.
