BURN BAN IN EFFECT

The Wagoner County Board of Commissioners has issued a BURN BAN in effect for the next 7 days.

COUNTY COMMISSIONER BURN BAN RESOLUTION #2024-104

The County Board of County Commissioners pursuant to the authority granted to the Board by Section 16-26. B of Title 2 of the Oklahoma Statutes, does hereby proclaim that extreme fire danger exists in Wagoner County. This situation (as defined in Section16-26. B.1.a-d, Title 2, O.S.) has been verified by the County's municipal and rural fire chiefs, or their designees. 

By virtue of this resolution, it is unlawful for any person to set fire to any forest, grass, range, crop or other wildlands, or to build a campfire or bonfire, or to burn trash or other material that may cause a forest, grass, range, crop, or other wildlands fire. 

Exceptions to this fire prohibition and the appropriate precautionary measures to be taken are as follows: 

  1. Gas Grills                                             
  1. Charcoal Grills and Smokers, if attended, on a minimum 10’X10’ concrete pad, water available and embers to be extinguished if grills or smokers are to be transported.
  2. Welding, if a permit is obtained from the local fire department and pressurized water is on stand-by and an observer is present.   

Enforcement of this resolution may be carried out by any law enforcement officer of this State. Any person convicted of violating this resolution shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.  In addition to the fine, costs, and imprisonment for violations of Oklahoma Statutes, including but not limited to Title 2, O.S. Section 16-26 (B)(10).  Persons convicted of violating this resolution will be subject to a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), imprisonment for not more than one (1) year, or both such fine and imprisonment.
