The Wagoner Rotary Club Pancake Day is set for Friday, February 16, three days after National Pancake Day. The long-running local fundraiser will be held 7 a.m.-1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 401 N.E. 2nd Street, Wagoner, Oklahoma. Meals cost $8 for pancakes, sausage and coffee, milk, or juice. The Pancake Eating Contest begins at noon.
The civic organization has been holding the fundraising event since the 1970s, adding the popular eating contest in 2012. Contestants can sign up ahead of time or on the day of the event for a $25 entry fee. Last year’s competition resulted in a flapjack flipping finish with Lane Fletcher besting previous winner Cristy Collier to break a tie after each consumed eight pancakes.
Pancake Day proceeds support dictionaries to local grade schools, scholarships for Wagoner High School graduates, and other worthy causes including Rotary International’s fund promoting projects around the world.
