After a conundrum with the Claremore Chamber of Commerce, which had sponsored and backed the event for almost 20 years, the city's famed Bluegrass & Chili Festival had to scramble to find a new host city or the festival would have been cancelled this year -- that after 38 consecutive years.
The Claremore chamber decided to pull out earlier this year, leaving the festival committee with no host city or financial backing.
After vetting over ten cities, 37-year festival organizer Dell Davis, organizing the festival since 1980, the decision was short-listed to two cities with Wagoner being the frontrunner over Broken Arrow.
At a special meeting of the Wagoner City Council Wednesday, councilors voted unanimously to support the event and ensure its coming to Wagoner.
